using your logic, china would win every gold medal in the olympics becasue they have by far the largest pool to choose from.

You are misunderstanding him. He is just saying that the large number of American's attempting to win increases its chances.
Anyways, in Olympics depending on the sport - China and Madagascar can have the same number of participants per contest.

Are you suggesting that if your skilled enough you can somehow turn back time so you can win HOH and then warp back and play FOW.

Win the Hall, leave and go to FoW. LIKE I SAID, THIS IS UNLIKELY for a NORMAL person to do so. My point is one can win the favor to go UW/FoW if need for your character.

Also, what about the whole not having to grind in this game? Was that not another abition from the Guild Wars crew? Seems to me if you can not only win halls but then find the time to head over to FoW to get your armour (which you need thousands of gold to afford), you probably have a lot of play time under your belt. The system will never be perfect, just face it.

Another argument people like to tote, is that not having favor and wanting to do abit of FOW encourages you to go to the HOH, or to try PVP in general
Well i dont know about anyone else but ive never gone "oh we dont have favor, well blow me all of a sudden i have the urge to PVP instead of my normal PVE".
I liked the pvp match as you left pre-seer. I would like ot see more of it, because win or lose you still go on with your PVE game, but you get to enjoy PVP (and because there is no penalty (for example keep trying till you win, people dont come away bitter if they lose, which is a much better way to encourage pvp).

thank you for proving my point. the amount of gold medals varies from 5-32. silver and bronze dont mean anything in this case becasue 2nd and 3rd place dont win the halls, only 1st. i am asuming the number before the year is the place they came in overall. it should be one in each case using the 'strength in numbers logic.
conclusion, strenght in numbers is a vaid argument for individual fights but not tournaments.

I think these stats prove that numbers ARE important.
Excluding Seoul, China wins increase every time.
position: 4-4-4-3-2
golds: 15-16-16-28-32
total: 32-54-50-59-63
See the trend? Doubled each stat in 20 years.
China 2008 will be pure chinese ownage.
Considering the big issues of chinese society and economy (i think half of chinese population doesnt even have a television to see olympic games), they can compete against occidental nations because they are so many.
Are they 1 billion? Take away the poors, the over exploited hand-employees, the huge country population. Even 1% of one billion is a huge pool to find olympic stars.
Numbers ARE important.

but proportionally, the population of china compared to the rest of the world didnt double in 20 years.
the logic is that the american server has a larger pool and therefore wins the most in GW.
chaina has the largest pool of people and always has so if the logic was correct then they would have the most olympic gold each time. they dont.
also india would come in second as they have over 1 billion people.
